“So, what exactly do you eat anyways?”
Great question. Currently, my diet does not fall under any label.
I am severely lactose intolerant, so I don’t eat any dairy – including milk proteins and by-products: whey, casein, etc. This leads me to eat a lot of soy-based products and started my attraction to vegan foods. While I do eat meat, I really like vegan products because I know I can eat them and a lot of them are so yummy! I especially go for vegan desserts, because those basically ARE the only ones I can eat! Additionally, I suffer from chronic digestive issues and have for 12 years.
I’ve toyed around a little bit with not eating meat, but everytime I do, it doesn’t agree with my stomach and I give up before I can really get a hold of it. I honestly don’t even like eating meat that much and certainly wouldn’t miss it; it’s just a matter of finding out what my body is going to best respond to. In terms of meats, I mainly eat chicken and turkey – preferably organic and as lean as possible! I rarely eat read meat.
Basically, I try to eat food that is healthy, that my body appreciates, and that is delicious! After spending many years of my life being afraid of food and limiting myself to the same exact foods every day, I currently am trying to branch out with different foods and not limit myself to one specifc thing. Maybe one day my eating habits will fit into a label, but for now I am going to continue my exploration eating foods that feel right to me. :)
