Good Morning! Happy Friday to you! Still lovvvving Fridays off during the summer!
Yesterday was bizzzE! It started with work, followed by class, followed by a bloggy wine tasting, and ended with a cookout! I didn’t get home until late, but it was a great way to end the LONG week.
I’ll spare you the details about work and school and get right in to the wine tasting. 😉
Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to a wine tasting at the Urban Grape in Chestnut Hill. A big thanks to Michelle for putting this together and to Melissa for reaching out to me with an invite. It was great meeting fellow bloggers for the VERY FIRST TIME, including Jon and Lara.
I was actually pretty nervous because it was my first time meeting other bloggers and I know pretty much nothing about wine! I didn’t want to look stupid!
Luckily, the store, the owner, the 2 great employees, and the other great bloggers were all very sweet and not intimidating whatsoever.
Plus it helped that the store was so visually appealing! I loved it in there. So simple, chic, and clean.
I was so impressed with the place. Getting to talk to the owner, TJ, was really a treat. It was refreshing to hear how passionate he was about wine, his store, and his customers.
The way TJ spoke to us completely erased any fears I had about my lack of wine knowledge. He thoroughly explained his system to us: each wine is given a number 1-10. He explained the system by comparing it to milk. Despite my disgust, I was still interested in what he had to say. 😉
A 1 would be like skim milk – thin and light.
A 10, on the other hand, would be like heavy cream – heavy and thick.
And then everything else fits in on the spectrum. He obviously explained it much better than I, but it’s a really logical system and it’s pretty easy to understand (even for a wine blank slate, such as myself)
I tried a variety of wines, and while some pleased my palette more than others, there really wasn’t anything that I disliked. Even the reds!
The store had a really great selection. Everything is stocked by their number, rather than price.
And don’t worry, they had more than just wine!
Overall, the wine tasting was a great event and I am so glad I went. The owner and employees were so generous and so knowledgable. I was able to sample many wines,
and bought one that I can’t wait to have next time we grill up some goodies! I think all of us actually left with this one…it was so good!
I’m so glad I went…thank you to everyone that made this possible! 🙂
I’m so glad you came, too! And glad you had a good time. TJ really was very informative, and the wines were delicious and very affordable! Looking forward to seeing you again soon at another meet-up!
Yeahh! Thanks again for setting it all up and I hope to see you soon! 🙂
